Closing the Achievement Gap
Summer Learning Makes the Difference
Due to a lack of opportunity, students from economically disadvantaged families lose 2-3 months of their learning each summer. By fifth grade, that accounts for 2-3 YEARS of the achievement gap between underresourced students and their middle-income peers.
Stopping summer learning loss and providing enriching educational experiences is one of the most effective ways to close the achievement gap and to set students on a positive life trajectory.
